Bayajidda, the carefree crown prince of Baghdad, journeys to Africa in search of cities to conquer in order to win his father's approval and to prove himself worthy of the crown. The Grand Vizier, who also has eyes on the throne, escorts him on this adventure with a sinister motive- to ensure he never returns.
Bayajidda's many adventures leads him finally to the city of Daura, in present northern Nigeria, where he confronts a slithering adversary which stands between him and the hand of queen, whom he has fallen in love with. Armed with a mystic sword fashioned by the Abagiyawa he faces Sarki the mammoth snake and the Vizier who will stop at nothing to see his demise. Bayajidda-An African Legend is based on a popular Hausa legend in Northern Nigeria.
